History

The Center for Social Development Studies under the Faculty of Political Science at Chulalongkorn University was established in 1985 with academic support from Bielefeld University and financial support from Volkswagen Foundation, Germany. The Center aims to provide support in education, research, and teaching as well as increasing the university’s capacity to produce graduates at various levels with emphasis on social development related projects and issues in order to link interdisciplinary knowledge and methodology in political science (government, public administration, international relations, and sociology and anthropology) together. The Center also focuses on connecting the knowledge with other subjects in social science to create interdisciplinary researches that reflect social situations from diverse aspects.
